Where I've Been: Loss, Life, and Moving Forward

Where I've Been: Loss, Life, and Moving Forward
Read in: 🇬🇧 English 🇫🇷 Français 🇹🇿 Kiswahili

It's been a while since I wrote here. Longer than I planned. Longer than I wanted.

If you've been checking this page and finding nothing new, I'm sorry. I wasn't ignoring you. I was going through something I wasn't ready to talk about.

But I believe in being honest with the people who follow this journey. So here's the truth.

Loss

I lost my big sister.

I also lost other members of my family.

I won't share all the details some things are private. But I want you to understand why I disappeared.

Grief doesn't come with instructions. It doesn't give you time to prepare. It arrives without warning and takes over everything. For weeks, I couldn't think about writing. I couldn't think about the platform. I could barely think about anything except getting through each day.

My big sister was more than family. She was part of my story. Part of who I am. Part of why I keep pushing forward.

Losing her changed something in me. It still hurts. It probably always will.

Why I'm Writing Now

I thought about staying quiet longer. Maybe coming back later with a normal post about technology or business, as if nothing happened.

But that's not who I am.

This vlog was created to document my real journey not just the successes and the projects, but the struggles too. The hard parts. The human parts.

And right now, this is my reality. I'm grieving. I'm healing. And I'm learning to keep moving forward even when life hurts.

If you've ever lost someone close to you, you understand. If you haven't, I hope you never have to.

What I've Been Doing

During this time, I didn't completely stop. Some days, work was the only thing that helped.

  • Siyoni Market kept me going. Talking to customers, selling kitchenware, staying busy it forced me to get out of my head.
  • INZU YANJE has been slow but steady. I work on it when I can. Some nights the code flows. Other nights I just stare at the screen. Both are okay.
  • Prayer and reflection have been my anchor. I've spent a lot of time just sitting with my thoughts, with my faith, with my memories.

I'm not back to 100%. I don't know when I will be. But I'm back enough to write this. And that's a start.

A Message to Anyone Grieving

If you're reading this and you've lost someone too, I see you.

There's no right way to grieve. No timeline. No checklist. You just take it one day at a time. Some days are heavy. Some are lighter. Both are part of the process.

Don't let anyone rush you. Don't rush yourself.

Keep the people you love close. Tell them what they mean to you while they're still here. I wish I had said more. I think we all do.

What's Next

I'm not going to make big promises about posting every week or launching INZU YANJE by a certain date. That's not where I am right now.

But here's what I can tell you:

  • I'm still here.
  • I'm still building.
  • I'm still showing up even if it's slower than before.
  • The platform will launch when it's ready.
  • The vlog will continue when I have something meaningful to share.

Grief doesn't end. But life continues around it. And I'm learning to continue with it.

Thank You

To everyone who reached out, who noticed my absence, who said a prayer or sent a message thank you. You have no idea how much it means.

To the person reading this right now thank you for being here. For caring about this journey. For being part of this community.

I'll write again soon. Not because I have to. But because I want to.

— Dona

Still here. Still building. Still healing.
